PROJECT OVERVIEW

Habit & Routine Tracker

THE SITUATION

Building a routine was easy to plan. Keeping the plan visible day after day was harder.

Habits could be defined by frequency and grouped into routines, but daily activity, completion, progress patterns, and later adjustments also needed to stay connected to that original setup.

THE FRICTION

Tracking lost value when the routine and its history lived in separate moments.

  • Habit definitions and recurring routines needed to guide the daily check-in
  • Daily completion had to remain available for later progress review
  • Routine adjustments needed the context of tracked activity and patterns

THE APPROACH

Treat routines as a feedback loop, not a static checklist.

The tracker links habit setup and routine grouping to a simple daily check-in. Completion data then becomes a progress view with overall results, streak context, completion rates, and habit-level performance before recurring routines are reviewed and adjusted.

TOOL IN ACTION

The routine loop in action

See habits move from definition to daily tracking, review, and adjustment.

Four-stage habit and routine workflow from setup through daily tracking, progress review, and routine adjustment

THE OUTCOME

Routine planning and progress review became parts of the same cycle.

Before

  • Habits and recurring routines organized as separate planning items
  • Daily activity checked apart from the routine setup
  • Progress reviewed without a shared performance view
  • Routine changes made apart from tracked activity

After

  • Habits and routines defined within one repeatable structure
  • Daily check-ins stay connected to the habits being tracked
  • Completion, streak, and habit performance available together
  • Recurring routines can be adjusted with progress context visible
