THE NEED
A mission tracker should make the next action clearer—not bury it.
I wanted a lightweight way to turn personal goals into missions, see meaningful progress, and keep the experience motivating without adopting a broader product than the workflow required. Building PILI created room to own the data, shape the progression model, and keep the core experience local.
THE PRODUCT DECISION
Turn goals into guided missions with local progress as the source of truth.
PILI is being built as a single-user, iPhone-first product. Missions can be shaped as completion or target-based work, organized through categories, and supported by deterministic recommendations. Gamified elements sit around the mission system rather than replacing the underlying progress records.
DESIGNING THE EXPERIENCE
Guide the planning decision, then keep daily progress lightweight.
The creation flow breaks a mission into deliberate choices: path, recommendation or custom direction, details, rhythm, and review. Recommendations remain offline and editable, while mission definitions, recurrence rules, and progress logs stay separate so the interface can evolve without weakening the data model.
PRODUCT IDENTITY
PILI's current product identity
The available portfolio visual uses PILI's canonical mascot and app identity while the mission workflows continue to be refined.
CURRENT BUILD
What exists today—and what is still being built.
Implemented
- Local SQLite foundations for missions, categories, recommendations, and progress logs
- Guided mission creation with editable, category-aware offline recommendations
- Active, paused, completed, scheduled, and recently deleted mission workflows
- Deterministic offline companion logic grounded in authoritative local mission data
In Progress
- Create, edit, scheduling, and mission-management interaction refinements
- Custom recurrence and occurrence behavior across current mission flows
Planned
- Authoritative streak calculation before streak-based companion states are enabled
- Achievement unlocks and journey content beyond the current placeholders
- Persisted occurrence history and notification scheduling
WHAT I'M LEARNING
The product gets clearer when the underlying rules do.
- Recommendations are more trustworthy when they are deterministic, editable, and separate from mission persistence.
- Recurrence rules and real mission occurrences need distinct models before scheduling behavior can expand safely.
- Gamification works best as a layer on authoritative progress logs, not as the source of truth itself.

WHAT'S NEXT
Meaningful milestones, kept deliberately focused.
- Finish the current mission-workflow refinements and device validation
- Persist occurrence history and define notification behavior
- Make streak calculations authoritative before surfacing streak-based guidance
- Replace achievement and journey placeholders with grounded unlock behavior
PILI is becoming a focused mission system: clear enough for today, structured enough to grow deliberately.
